Partner 3. NMD - National Museum of Denmark.


The National Museum is Denmark’s largest museum of cultural history. The museum has a number of national commitments, particularly within the following key areas: archaeology, ethnology, numismatics, ethnography, natural science, conservation, communication, building antiquarian activities in connection with the churches of Denmark as well as the handling of the Danefæ (the National Treasures).

Key Persons

 

Isabelle Brajer received her Master’s Degree in the conservation of paintings from the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Conservation in Krakow (Poland) in 1983. Since 1985 she has worked as a conservator of wall paintings at the National Museum of Denmark, and currently holds the title of Senior Research Conservator. Since 2009 she was appointed Adjunct Professor at the School of Conservation, Copenhagen. She is the author and co-author of about 40 publications in the field of conservation/restoration of wall paintings, which cover a wide range of topics, including theoretical, historical and practical issues.

Mads Chr. Christensen is a chemist and head of the analytical laboratory at the Department of Conservation at the National Museum of Denmark since 1997. Employed as a teacher in material chemistry and conservation science for bachelor – and master students at The Royal academy of Fine Arts, School of Conservation (1981-1997). Management Committee member of COST action G8 “Non-destructive analysis and testing of museum objects”. Partner in FP6 STREP project , SurveNIR , Near –infrared spectroscopy tool for collection survey (2005 -2008). Research areas: Analysis of painting materials and - techniques in architectural decorations, on polychrome sculpture and in easel paintings.
